Michael Olise Future in Doubt as Bayern Face Contract Dilemma

Michael Olise’s future at Bayern Munich has become one of the major contract stories to watch, with the German champions facing a difficult decision over how far they are willing to go to keep one of their most important attacking players.

Olise is currently under contract with Bayern until 2029, meaning the club are not under immediate pressure to sell. However, Bayern are already looking to secure his long-term future and have plans to extend his deal further. The club reportedly want to keep him beyond 2029, potentially tying him down until 2032.

The biggest obstacle is understood to be the player's demand for a release clause.

According to reports based on Sport Bild, Olise’s representatives want any new contract to include a release clause that would allow the French international to leave Bayern if another club meets an agreed fee. A figure above €200 million has been discussed as a possible level.

For Bayern, that represents a significant problem.

The club have already made it clear that Olise is considered a central part of their future plans. Sporting director Max Eberl previously stressed that the winger currently has no release clause in his contract and said Bayern wanted to know by next summer whether Olise was open to extending his stay.

That means the coming months could be crucial.

Olise’s position is understandable given his rapid rise since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting attacking players and has attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including reported interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool.

His bargaining position has therefore become considerably stronger.

Bayern are reportedly prepared to reward Olise with a major salary increase, potentially placing him alongside some of the club's highest-paid stars. But the Frenchman's camp appears determined to retain control over his future by insisting on an exit mechanism.

That could create a delicate balance for Bayern.

The club want to protect one of their most valuable assets, while Olise wants guarantees that a future opportunity will not be completely blocked. Granting a release clause would give the player greater freedom, but it could also make Bayern vulnerable if one of Europe's richest clubs eventually decides to trigger it.

For now, there is no indication that Olise is preparing to leave Bayern. The immediate issue is whether both sides can find an agreement that satisfies the club's desire for long-term stability and the player's desire for flexibility.

With Bayern giving themselves until next summer to gain clarity over Olise's intentions, the situation is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

The message from Munich is clear: Bayern want Olise to stay.

The question is whether they are willing to give their star winger the release clause he wants in order to make that happen.
